1978 Chevrolet Corvette Description:

This is a highly optioned 1978 Corvette Pace Car. It is a 39 year old survivor. It is number 2,754 of 6,502 Pace Cars that were assembled at the Chevrolet Saint Louis Missouri assembly plant in 1978. From a historical viewpoint 1978 was the first year Corvette was selected to pace the Indianapolis 500. Chevrolet was also in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the first Corvette to roll off the assembly line in 1953. It has all original paint, all original upholstery, all original carpet, original dealer install Pace Car decals, original glove box owners manual. It has a numbers matching engine, transmission, and rear end. It has the removable locking glass roof panels, air conditioning, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, power windows, power door locks, rear window defogger, convenience group option, dual rear speakers, power antenna, sports mirrors, AM-FM radio with cassette player, polished aluminum 15' X 8' slotted wheels, B.F. Goodrich radial T/A P255/60R15 tires, and the working smog pump equipment. It has the optional L82 350 c.i. 220 horsepower engine, the Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 three speed automatic transmission. It was purchased new in Washington State in 1978 and was garage kept there for 22 years. It was then relocated to Colorado for 17 years and garage kept there. The odometer shows 41,400 miles on it. The mileage is believed to be accurate and the service records dating back decades reflects these to be the actual miles. No rust at all on the top or undercarriage of this Pace Car. All mechanical and electrical components work like new. Even the battery operated clock with a second hand works. All the gauges work. The original radio was replaced with a Kenwood AM-FM with a cassette player. I have the original AM-FM 8 track player radio that also comes with the car. It comes with a car cover that has the black/silver/red stripe Pace Car appearance, Corvette repair manuals, service records, t-top carrier, front end leather bra. I also have a re-created (not the original) window sticker that goes with the car. The Pace Car does show it's age, with minor wear, and signs of careful usage. But for an un-restored 39 year old Pace Car it is very nice. No fiberglass damage or cracking, and no paint cracking. It has had regular maintenance performed on it. A few years ago it had the front end suspension replaced as well the motor mounts. Those were maintenance items that were typical for a 1978 Pace Car. I just had it on display at a 30th annual VetteFest in Colorado where it got a lot of attention.
