1948 Cadillac Other Description:

1948 Cadillac convertible. Only 5000 originally made. They are hard to find and this is the perfect starting point.
THIS IS NOT A RUST BUCKET LIKE MOST OTHERS YOU FIND FOR SALE. ALMOST ALL PARTS ARE THERE AND IN GOOD/GREAT CONDITION.
Needs full restoration, but you would be hard pressed to find a better car to begin a restoration. All the parts are there I believe, with the exception of the front seat and steering column and wheel. All trim is present and in good shape to be restored. Some has already been restored. The front and rear bumpers and the grill have been re-chromedby previous owner. Was told he spent $9k re-chromingtrim. All glass is there with the exception of one wing glass, one door glass and I believe the rear window (they are there but broken). There are some new pieces already bought (rear tail lamp lenses, some weatherstripping, power window kit, wiring kit that is partially installed).
Body is straight and all there. Only rust was already cut out (4" section on lower passenger quarter). There is a small bit of rust in the trunk floor about the size of a half dollar coin. It is easily accessible and easily repairable. The top bows are there and are immaculate.
The car is not on the original frame and doesn't have the original motor. If I recall correctly, I believe previous owner said it is a mid 70s Cadillac motor and frame but I am not certain of that. The casting numbers on the exhaust manifoldsdo come up as a 70s Cadillac. Car doesn't run. It does have the original Cadillac valve covers.
If you have been looking for a 48-49 Cadillac convertible, here is your chance. If you have been looking for one to do your way, you know they don'tcome up often. I looked for 10 years til I found this one. All the expensive hard to find parts are there.
I am not desperate to sell (actually a little heart broken). But have realized I am a few years from even starting this project.
I highly encourage potential buyers to come check the car out in person. I certainly want the new owner to know exactly what they are getting. I bought it sight unseen knowing the chances to own one that isn'talready restored are rare and I was not disappointed.
I can and am willing to help with having the car shipped to you. Obviously, this would be at buyers expense. The vehicle will not leave my possession in any form until all funds are verified and cleared.

Full disclosure: As mentioned, the car is not on the original frame. From my understanding the VIN numbers for these cars were on the frame only. I have not been able to locate anothervin number anywhere on the car. This was not an issue for me in getting the car titled, but I am not sure if it could cause problems in other states. Please verify prior to bidding.
