1978 Cadillac DeVille Description:

1978 Cadillac Coupe Deville. 20,262 original miles. This is a true desert classic. Car was purchased from Plaza Motors in Palm Springs in 1978 by a widow (Vera) that lived in the Blue Sky Village Mobile home park in Rancho Mirage (Blue Sky Village was created by Bing Crosby). Original owner named the car “Buttercup” due to Colonial Yellow exterior and yellow interior. Car was put into storage when owner moved to nursing home. We obtained Buttercup in 2009 after the family started selling off belongings once Vera passed away so car has remained in the Palm Springs area.

425 V8 engine, automatic transmission, A/C, power windows, door locks, seat and antennae. AM/FM Radio. No rust or body damage. Chrome bumpers shine like new. This car still has the original blue California license plates from the 70’s with Plaza Motors license plate frame on the back. Wheels updated with original Cadillac wire wheel covers – Original standard hub caps are in the trunk.

Items replaced or repaired since owning:

New exhaust system, new shocks, new white wall tires, head liner repaired, entire A/C system replaced (over $1000 spent), carburetor rebuilt, transmission seal replaced, engine rear seal / oil pan seal replaced.

Known issues: Clock does not work, speedometer cable makes ticking sound until it gets warmed up, trunk key has to be aligned just right to open trunk.

This car was appraised by McCormick’s Classic Car Auction (July 2016) for $11,500.
