1926 McLaughlin Buick 2 door sedan custom V-12 Jaguar hot rod rat rod and IRS

1926 Buick Other Description:

Vehicle Details

I own a restoration shop with my son and this is a car we are selling for a customer. It is a 1926 McLaughlin (Canadian) Buick 2 door sedan. This is a really unusual build and built very well. The first thing you see is the 1971 Jaguar XKE V-12 with four side draft Zenith/Stromberg carburetors. All the carbs were rebuilt in 2020 by a Jaguar shop. I have the receipt for $1453.00. The engine has a very unique sound out the exhaust. There are baffles in the collectors so they're not too loud but still let you know something is there. Almost sounds like an old radial engine. Needless to say it runs great. No issues at all. No leaks. No running hot. Nothing. The transmission the Jaguar 3 speed automatic and works perfectly. In the rear is a independent Jaguar IRS with four coil over adjustable shocks. Wheels and tires have less than 5000 miles on them. The frame was a one off and done right.  Full 2" X 4" boxed tubing with several cross members. My son is a builder/fabricator and said the frame was done very well. The front axle is a four link dropped about 3 inches and has shocks, a transverse mounted leaf spring and BIG Buick brake drums and backing plates. The car stops really well. It does have a functioning parking brake. The steering is quite smooth and steers well with two fingers. The wheelbase is 129 1/2 inches and that's what makes it ride so nice. The overall length of the car is 165 inches. The interior has seats from a Pontiac Solstice and the both seats are adjustable fore and aft and recline. They are very comfortable.  The door panels, headliner and carpeting are custom made. The rear has no seating but could be added if desired. The glass was all new when the car was built about 9 years ago. The body is real straight with no rust or dents but there is one ding on the left side about the size of your thumb nail.  All the original wood structures in the body have been replaced with steel. Thus a very solid car. The paint is accented with pinstripes and looks good. The car's cowl lights are the front turn signals and all other lighting and signals work as they should. The car is actually fun to drive and drives well. It doesn't ride like a Model A hot rod with that "baby buggy" ride. It sounds cool and definitely stands out. I have a clean California title and it is registered as a 1926 Buick. If you have any questions or need more photos of something, please write or call Bruce or my son, Skyler at 916-652-6852. To see and drive the car, we can arrange that too. We are located about 18 miles east of Sacramento headed towards Reno, Nevada. If you need me to make shipping arrangements, I'll be glad to take care of that for you. Thanks for looking. Key words...Custom Cadillac Rat Rod Gasser nostalgia old school Kustom Ford Willys
