1966 Buick Riviera RIVIERA GS Gran Sport Description:

1966 Buick Riviera GS, Gran Sport. Highly optioned, rust free California driver, original (rebuilt) engine and trans, Positraction, original "Wildcat 465" 425 cu in nailhead engine rebuilt about 4 years ago by prominent nailhead rebuilders (and ROA recommended) Centerville Auto Repair in Grass Valley, CA. Original heads were not serviceable so were replaced with non-smog heads at time of rebuild. Transmisson rebuilt at same time. Car stripped to bare metal and professionally repainted in Mercedes Bright Silver approximately 7 years ago. The few small body repairs that were needed were done with welded in new metal, not bondo. A few chips and scuffs now but looks great. Smog and AC pumps, hoses removed from engine bay - all the parts will come with the car. Rubber, AC/Heat interior ducting, and vacuum lines replaced - needs vacuum canister for vacuum door locks and auto trunk opener to operate. Except for the dash pad, steering wheel, and new carpet I never got to the interior in the 16 years I've owned it but it had been reupholstered in non-original black velour type material before I got it. Front seat foams will eventually need to be replaced. Gas gauge and cruise control not working. Temp and battery condition gauges at modified ashtray area, other two gauges shown in pictures have been removed. A few pieces of missing trim. Fast, fun, high torque (465 ft-lbs) car that is a hoot to drive and quite the attention getter. I've had 5 Rivs in the last 20 years and this is the last one to go. Time to move on to other interests.
Someone asked about numbers and I keep getting returned mail notifications so I'll post here. The engine block is stamped M W250 923332. The aluminum tag riveted to drivers side door pillar below top hinge is 494876H923332.just got an email failure notice for my reply so will try again.Inside piece missing is from dash to roof on pass side. Outside is the four wheel well trims plus one small one in front of rear wheel. Clear title. The A/C was not charged when I got the car and I never got it looked at or converted over. So after the rebuild I just didn't put the AC compressor or hoses back into the engine bay. All the components inside the car are still there. Same for smog stuff which, if you've never seen it, is a ridiculous amount of hoses all over the place - only required on CA cars, of course. Now the engine bay is so much cleaner. Now, after the head changeout at rebuild, the smog stuff couldn't go on anyways since the replacement heads don't have the little quarter inch port needed to screw in the smog pump hoses to each cylinder. I had removed all the smog stuff the minute I got the car and put an allen plug into those ports to block them off anyways. I have all the smog stuff and could get you a lead on correct heads, but why? The "sideswipe" was from hitting the drywall on my garage wall while angling out of the garage. I just wiped off the dust with a damp rag after. A little time picking out the pieces and some rubbing compound would go a long way to cleaning it up. The car needs finishing touches mostly on the interior. A lot of little things need to be taken care of but all the majors - engine and trans rebuilds, chrome, paint are done. It's the old rule - the last 10% takes as much time as the first 90%. I don't have the interest (or my 3 car garage that I had before) to work on these little details. An example, I completely rebuilt the power antenna. It works fine when tested outside the car but right now doesn't work in the car. It's either a ground wire or the switch, both pretty easy and cheap fixes, but I don't want to take the time to look into it because I don't care. To me it's a fun driver, the rest is just gravy. Power seats same thing,
