Our 1955 Buick Century, Model 66R, Riviera 2 Door Hard Top, has been part of the Ed Hicks Collection of Motorcars since 2005, when it was acquired by Mr. Hicks. Mr HIcks and his wife Gloria had an identical ‘55’ Buick Century when they were married in 1955! Same color, same trim, and with a dealer installed A/C system (only way to obtain factory air in a ‘55’ Century), which they used on their honeymoon. Mr. Hicks began searching for a red and white ‘55’ Century years ago - with the intent of giving the car to his wife for their 50th anniversary. He finally found the correct, fully restored 1955 Century 2 door H.T., but it did not have factory (dealer installed) A/C. Mr. Hicks started hunting for a complete A/C system, new-old stock (NOS) of course, and found one. We installed the A/C system in our shop in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The Buick Century‘Nailhead’ 322 cid V-8 engine (the Century model was basically a Buick Special with a Roadmaster drivetrain making it, to quote from Buick’s 1955 advertising, “The Hottest Buick In History”!) producing 236 HP with 330 ft. lbs. of torque. Mr. Hicks is the owner of Ed Hicks Mercedes Benz, Ed Hicks Nissan, Ed Hicks Infinity, and The Hicks Family Nissan store located in the western area of Corpus Christi, Texas.
