This 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 is a completely original survivor, not a re-built re-creation made out of after-market parts. British Motor Heritage Certificate documents the car was built February 22-23, 1965, and shipped to New York on March 15, 1965: engine # 29K-RU-H/5735, and body # 75584.It has been garaged and driven regularly, never in the rain. The original owner was from southern California, and I bought it from the second owner in Arizona, so it’s a “desert” car without a spot of rust anywhere.
Mechanically it has been maintained perfectly, proven by 10 years of service record receipts. Was repainted nicely just before I bought it in 2007, and a foreign car expert here in Santa Fe went through a complete mechanical update: brake pads & shoes, drive shaft U-joints, resealed timing cover & gearbox, engine mounts, suspension bushings, & radiator hoses, etc. Has had a complete service every year, including Hemmings’ extra-Zinc synthetic oil (which prevents cam lobe wear) and run on Ethanol-free gasoline (which saves rubber & plastic parts). Also included is the original owner’s manual, shop manual, a spare parts box, and a nice collection of magazine articles on it.
Comes many very rare original items including the wooden dash, black leather tonneau cover & boot, British Motor Corporation AM radio, electronic Laycock overdrive, telescopic steering wheel, etc. The few non-stock items are:
• Electronic ignition system (no more points to adjust)
• Chrome spoke wheels (original gray-painted ones are included)
• Stainless steel mufflers & exhaust (will never rust)
