This car was purchased by a Detroit Great Lakes AMC club member from South Carolina in 1999. It is a 1973 AMC Javelin with a 360 / Auto. The car was also equipped with afactory posi 3:91 rear end. The car was in its original Vineyard Burgundy paint and the engine was smoking at 94K miles. He did not do anything with the car and in 2004 it went to another club member and then in 2005; I purchased the car.
The car is relatively rust free. Very good undercarriage. We rebuilt the engine and transmission. New steering box, shocks, brakes, power boost, master brake cylinder and radiator. We also cleaned out the gas tank. The car had these 15-inch Mopar rims on it at the time when first purchased in 1999 and I just had them powder coated. I then sold the car to another club member in 2010. In 2017 I then bought the car back. He never drove is and it was a great car.
As you can see this car has AMX upgrade door panels and instrument cluster. I do have the original ones and they go with the car. So, you can put it back to original if you want and sell these valuable AMX pieces. But it does look cooler in this trim. Just FYI the door Panels and Tic Toc Tack are worth at least $800.
I refreshed this car over the winter, but this is the overall condition of the car:
New rubber around doors and window whiskers
Flushed Radiator
Jet Hot headers with new dual Flo Master Exhaust system
New Legendary Interior and Carpet
New Repop Sill plates
New shocks
Rebuilt original rear end
Engine and Trans rebuilt and less than 5K miiles
Repaint in 05 was done but a budget re-paint and has some chips; GREAT DRIVER Quality and it was painted as it left the factory; Vineyard Burgundy with a white stripe.
Rebuilt Steering Box
New Period Correct Bluetooth stereo; just installed
After Market Temp/Oil Pressure Gauges
After Market RPM Gauge
Tires have less than 5K miles
Model 20 rear rebuilt
New front end; bushings etc..
New Chin Spoiler
New Front and Rear Bumpers from Bumper Boyz which cost $1000
NEW NOS 1973 Javelin Grill on this car; About $500
Tires less than 7K miles
Welded chrome tip exhaust
MSD System with Distrubuter
Radiator and hoses and belts
The car was ordered with a rear spoiler and cowl induction hood. Both of which were on the car in 1999 and on the car today. The Cowl Hood has the non-air induction option. I have some receipts but not all many were lost in owner transition.
The engine was built by Rick Jones who is very well known in the AMC hobby. Car has 7K on the motor since a complete rebuild in 2005.
I am going to drive this car 2 hours down to AMO AMC Nationals in Auburn. If it does not sell; then you can look at it at the AMC meet. This is truly a great car to drive and enjoy and or take to the next level with not a lot of effort. Lots of work done to this car over the last 12 years. This car has been owned by AMC enthusiasts for over 20 years.
What needs to be done?
New package Tray should be installed behind the rear seat; the one in the car is showing its age
I think the paint is fine for as it is; but you might want to repaint if you want more of a show car.
If you don’t like the rims; some people do, and some don’t. Sell them and put on new rims. But these rims are off an early 70’s Mopar and are valuable. They came with the car and that was the look of this car back in the 70’s. So, I restored it as it looked like when it was purchased in 1999.I was told by the club member when he bought the car in 1999 that the car was off the road by 1985 and sat until he bought it in 1999. So, this car has the vintage look complete with leaf spring shackles and traction bars which I left on to complete the 70’s as it was look.
Pull the valve covers and repaint.
It is a 45 year old car and is not perfect. But as I look at ebay and what is out there; this one is a good one.
Interior is a 9 out of 10; Nice with new carpet and Legendary interior. But some little items should be addressed to be perfect.
Paint has some chips. There is a small chip in the fiberglass hood and some along the fender. Diver quality paint and a 7 out of 10. Very respectable as it stands. But come and look at it yourself. Or ask me for more pictures
So that is it; call me if you have any questions 1-734-320-0599
No reserve;
Car is in Cement City Michigan and is available for viewing this Friday and Saturday
