1977 AMC Hornet AMX

1977 AMC Hornet AMX Description:

This car was completely rebuilt by the current owner. Started out as a 1977 AMC Hornet AMX as seen in photo ad from back then. Originally it had a 258 6 cylinder engine that was replaced by a 360 V8. Purchased from that owner without a drive train in PA. before that it had spent it's entire life in Tenn. We hauled it home to NC where it sat about 4 years until the rebuilding started at Automotive Repairwerks in Weaverville, NC.

Fresh 360 .040 over 278H crane cam, big valve dogleg heads, high flow exhaust manifolds, new crank, pistons. Holley 650, NIB Quick Fuel carb . Fresh 727 trans. Duraspark ignition. New distributor. New calipers,hoses, master cylinder. New booster in box. DuPont firecracker red pint with DuPont clear coat. New tires. Have original Targa bar and Louvers / rear window slats for car. Have new machine turned inlay for gaugesand glove box. Factory AC car(not hooked up) PS .New front windshiel, new dual exhaust with Flowmaster 40's new Hornet emblem on hood.
While car is largely finished and being occasionally driven to be complete the Targa Band needs to be cleaned and reinstalled, the rear window slats / Louvres need to be refinished and installed, the Dash Inlay couldbe installed to suit your taste. There is a small spot on the drivers door ( pictured ) that needs to be repaired. Lastly the original 6 cylinder rear end is in the car and has given no trouble however included is a used anddisassembled AMC Model 20 V8 Rearend end assembly included and ready to be rebuilt and installed.
This car shows well with its bright Firecracker Red color and aftermarket wheels, has the right stance and when you take it out often people comment on it's AMC heritage ! Going to car shows you are often one of thefew AMC cars there ! This car is quick, sharp, well built with pride !
